14u Memorial Weekend
Great Turnaround

This past Memorial Day weekend, the 14u team showcased an exceptional performance at the NCS Orange County Memorial Day Tournament, a thrilling three-day baseball event. The team had a decidedly rocky start to the tournament. However, in a remarkable display of resilience, the young team refused to let this initial setback deter them.
Regrouping after their initial stumbles, our boys proceeded to secure victories in four successive games. The turnaround was nothing short of extraordinary, exhibiting not just the team's talent, but their unwavering spirit. A key factor to this inspiring recovery was the exceptional pitching during the pool play, a task brilliantly executed by Chace Hoyt and Sal Carillo. Their on-the-mound prowess and consistency set the stage for the team's resurgence.
As the tournament moved into its third day, Jonah Cohen delivered an outstanding performance that had fans and competitors alike in awe. Cohen took the mound on Monday morning and displayed commendable resolve by pitching a complete game. With 6 strikeouts and conceding a solitary run, his performance was a highlight of the day, encapsulating the fighting spirit that defined the team's play throughout the tournament.
In the high-stakes Championship game, Luke Barley rose to the occasion with a spectacular pitching display, limiting the opposition to only two runs. Caleb Kim further exhibited his own caliber by closing out the last two frames, all the while maintaining a clean sheet. Their collective efforts in maintaining defensive solidity under pressure played a pivotal role in securing a successful outcome for the team.
Just as pivotal was Nathan Mada's key contribution to the team's success. His clutch hit was a testament to his ability to perform under pressure and proved instrumental in the team's winning endeavor.
The tournament concluded with a sense of pride and accomplishment. The players, showing remarkable resilience and camaraderie, certainly had an amazing time. And for me, as someone who had the privilege of accompanying them through this unforgettable weekend, the experience was equally rewarding. Their journey from initial setbacks to ultimate triumph was inspirational, a testament to their incredible character and grit.
A hearty congratulations to the boys and all the ZB fans! The team's triumphant weekend serves as a reminder of the exciting potential this young team possesses. Here's looking forward to their future endeavors and the thrilling baseball they are sure to deliver.
